Bang! Boom! Roar! A Busy Crew of Dinosaurs
by Nate Evans and Stephanie Gwyn Brown
Construction is the theme of this enjoyable ABC book. As the rhyming text weaves through the alphabet, students will love seeing construction equipment AND dinosaurs, a great combination for many young students. The focus is on teamwork as this crew of dinosaurs works together to create a super surprise at the end of the story. Children will love finding the hidden letters on each page!
Extension activity:
Before reading this book, hide a set of alphabet letters around your classroom. For younger learners, just finding a hidden letter will be a thrill. Older students may be asked where they found the letter and on which object the letter found. Sound and letter correspondence would be an additional goal of the lesson.
Is it a nice day to play in the sand box? Take your dinosaurs and construction vehicles outside and let the children construct a dinosaur playground, OR anything they might imagine as a crew of dinosaurs would develop. Is it winter? Get some sand in your sensory table and allow the children the same opportunity right in the classroom.
